You got this because in the torrent you downloaded there was a company that works as an investigator for copyright holders looking up IP addresses in the torrent and yours showed up. He send off a DMCA notice to your ISP and due to the policy that your ISP has with the RIAA or MPAA or whatever the copyright holder was this time they passed it along. If the notice was from the RIAA or MPAA odds are the company was MediaSentry. In many places in America they are not licensed as a private investigator. Several people are fighting the legitimency of their evidence because of this.
